Cohort 5 brings Domain Experts and Builders together for four weeks to create freedom-focused AI startups: choose the role that gives you leverage, ask better customer questions, find the shortest path to money, and present real evidence in person at Modev's AI House Tour.
Cohort 5 is not a generic AI course. It is a matching and validation program for people who want to build Freedom Startups around real customer problems. Domain Experts bring market truth, customer access, and urgency. Builders bring product judgment, AI workflows, and prototype speed. Zenith supplies the structure so teams can test demand before forming a company.
Freedom Startup is Zenith's philosophy for building companies that create leverage before they create complexity. The goal is not to chase startup theater, raise money too early, or build features in isolation. The goal is to pair domain truth with AI-native building so a small team can reach customers, prove value, and earn the next step.
Domain Experts bring the workflow, customer access, and commercial context. Builders bring AI systems, prototypes, and implementation speed. Together they look for a profitable, freedom-focused wedge: a painful workflow where AI can save time, unlock expertise, create leverage, or become a paid offer.
The cohort is designed to answer one question: can this team create enough customer evidence to deserve deeper paid validation or company formation?
A good AI startup does not start with a deck or a feature list. It starts when someone close to the workflow can describe the pain, someone can build a visible proof artifact, and a real customer gives up time, data, reputation, or money to move the opportunity forward.
The Domain Expert owns the customer problem, buyer context, and sales path. The Builder owns the product execution, prototype, workflow, and proof artifact. Zenith keeps the team honest: ask better questions, avoid compliments, find the shortest paid step, and decide what deserves to become a company.
Enterprise Second Brain remains a useful example wedge from Cohort 4. Cohort 5 widens the frame: any real workflow where AI can remove friction, save time, create leverage, or unlock a paid customer path can become the starting point.
We do not expect every applicant to arrive with a complete company. We do expect every participant to declare a role, bring a real problem area, and do the work to produce customer evidence by October 6.
Brings industry pain, customer access, workflow knowledge, and willingness to sell or open doors.
Builds proof: prototype, agent workflow, automation, audit, demo, or before/after artifact.
Shows whether the opportunity is real through quotes, objections, next meetings, data access, pilots, or money.
The goal is not to finish a polished SaaS product in four weeks. The goal is to form the right team, test the right pain, make the opportunity visible, and find the shortest credible path to paid validation.
Declare whether you are a Domain Expert, Builder, or both, and define what kind of partner would make the opportunity stronger.
Use Mom Test conversations to learn about the customer's life, past behavior, current workaround, budget path, and urgency.
Turn the pain into a paid diagnostic, pilot, workshop, sprint, automation, or service package a real customer can accept or reject.
Package the team’s evidence into a clear 10-minute story for October 6: customer, pain, proof artifact, commitment ask, and next step.
Why this sequence? Builders without domain truth overbuild. Domain Experts without Builders get stuck in talk. Cohort 5 forces the two sides to meet around evidence.
The standard is simple: can the team find a real customer problem, show a credible first solution, and earn a next commitment? If yes, Zenith can review the opportunity for business assessment, paid validation, and eventual company formation.
Cohort 5 uses Freedom Startup as the operating philosophy, then applies the Cohort 4 discipline: ask better questions, package the shortest paid step, and show customer evidence instead of startup theater.
Most programs end with Demo Day — a polished pitch to investors. Cohort 5 ends with an in-person Customer Day on October 6 at Modev's AI House Tour: a focused, evidence-first session where each team presents what real customers actually said, what they built to make the pain visible, and what commitment they asked for next.
A strong team can explain the customer, the painful workflow, the proof artifact, the shortest path to money, and the next commitment ask in ten minutes. Evidence beats performance.
Customer Day happens in person at Modev's AI House Tour — a premier executive AI event series presented by KPMG.
Zenith is a venture studio. Cohort 5 is Phase 1: form credible teams, test customer pain, and identify which opportunities deserve a deeper business assessment or paid validation path.
Accelerators give you a class and a network. Studios help create companies. If a Domain Expert + Builder team finds real signal, Zenith can help move from customer evidence into assessment, company formation, technical infrastructure, fundraising path, and go-to-market support.
Teams that show real signal can move into deeper business assessment and paid validation before company formation.
Review the team, customer evidence, buyer path, workflow depth, and repeatability.
Shape the first paid diagnostic, pilot, sprint, or implementation package with real customers.
Help translate domain knowledge into product, workflows, demos, and technical delivery.
When the pattern is repeatable, create the structure for a company rather than a one-off project.
Use Zenith's network and partner ecosystem to help teams reach the next proof point.
Prepare the story, milestones, and investor path once customer evidence supports the venture case.
This follows the same stage definition as the main Zenith website: choose a role, define the customer problem, earn paid validation, then form the AI startup when evidence supports it.
Declare whether you are a Domain Expert, Builder, Investor, or hybrid participant — and what leverage you bring.
Use domain truth and Mom Test conversations to find real pain, buyer urgency, and a workflow worth solving.
Turn the first offer into paid work: a diagnostic, pilot, sprint, workshop, or implementation package.
When evidence repeats, form and scale the company with clear roles, Zenith’s venture studio structure, and a path to fundraising and exit.
Cohort 5 is built with partners who bring the program into the right rooms: Modev's AI House Tour for the in-person Customer Day stage, and AI Build Club DC as the organization partner for the local AI builder community.
Customer Day takes place inside Modev's AI House Tour — a bigger room for teams to show customer evidence, not startup theater.
A DC community helping people learn by doing: demos, hands-on practice, real use cases, and peer-to-peer AI building.
Cohort 5 starts September 8. Customer Day is October 6 in person at Modev's AI House Tour. Apply as a Domain Expert, Builder, or both.
